My Story

Hi, I’m Liam 👋

As I’ve grown older, I’ve found myself struggling to find a space where I feel like I belong. With friends moving away or starting families, the close friendships that came so easily in my youth are harder to find. While I’ve always loved the energy of a big night out, it’s not something I want to be doing regularly anymore – it negatively impacts my health, work, and relationships.

I feel that most queer venues cater to a younger crowd, leaving those of us who are older without spaces to meet new people, have fun, and make friends. Social media and apps have compounded the problem and often left me feeling disconnected, empty, and drained, rather than fulfilled, energised, and joyful.

I believe that connection, community and belonging are vital for our health, happiness and wellbeing. I want to continue to have a fun social life, meet people and nurture new friendships as I age, and believe others feel the same. That’s why I’m creating Kiki Clubhouse – a vibrant, supportive space where we can break free from the isolation of social media, make lasting friendships, and truly feel like we belong – no matter where we are in life.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from other Queer spaces?

Unlike bars, clubs, and apps which can feel intimidating and unwelcoming; Kiki Clubhouse is a curated and intentional community. It incorporates both in-person events and a private online space – both facilitated by hosts to help you feel welcome and connect with other members.

Is KiKi Clubhouse open to people of all ages?

Yes, KiKi is open to all ages, however it has been created to cater to the preferences and lifestyles of older people who are transitioning out of the club and party scene (or who were never in that scene) and who are looking for a place to connect, socialise and make new friends without the comedown. We appreciate that younger people may also prefer this type of environment and encourage you to join.

Is it only for gay men?

We welcome all people who resonate with our purpose and values, and are looking for meaningful connections in a space where they can be themselves.

What kind of events and activities will there be?

We plan to host a monthly in-person Saturday Afternoon Social (or KiKi) as well as weekly virtual coffee catchups through our private community app and other more intimate activities throughout the year. Think: brunches, picnics, theatre and cultural visits, dinners, day trips, and more (did someone say holiday!?). Most importantly, our events will be intentionally designed to help you connect, get to know other members, and facilitate stimulating conversations and meaningful friendships.

Can members organise their own activities and invite other members?

Are unicorns gay? Yasssss! We really encourage you to organise activities and invite other members. We want to create the space for you, as members, to take the lead, contribute, and co-create the community you’d like to be part of.

How much is membership?
With free apps, events, and groups, it’s easy to feel frustrated filtering through people who aren’t genuine, invested, or aligned. And, let’s be real, nightclubs aren’t exactly built for meaningful conversations.

Kiki Clubhouse is different. We’re a service creating curated spaces – online and in-person – designed to spark real connections.

When will it launch?

Our intention is to launch in January 2025, but you know, gay time’s a thing 😉. We are also going to open to a small number of Trailblazer members earlier to help test out the app and give feedback.

Will I need to apply?

We want to create a safe space with good vibes so there will be a short application questionnaire to ensure people joining are aligned in with our values.
