Go beyond small talk to form deep, lasting friendships through activities intentionally designed to help you spark meaningful connections. From day one, our hosts and members will help you feel welcome, included and celebrated giving you an immediate feeling of belonging.
As I’ve grown older, I’ve found myself struggling to find a space where I feel like I belong. With friends moving away or starting families, the close friendships that came so easily in my youth are harder to find. While I’ve always loved the energy of a big night out, it’s not something I want to be doing regularly anymore—it negatively impacts my health, work and relationships.
I feel that most queer venues cater to a younger crowd, leaving those of us who are older without spaces to meet new people, have fun, and make friends. Social media and apps have compounded the problem and often left me feeling disconnected, empty and drained rather than fulfilled, energised and joyful.
I believe that connection, community and belonging are vital for our health, happiness and wellbeing. I want to continue to have a fun social life, meet people and nurture new friendships as I age, and believe others feel the same. That’s why I’m creating Kiki Clubhouse—a vibrant, supportive space where we can break free from the isolation of social media, make lasting friendships, and truly feel like we belong – not matter where we are in life.
A. Unlike bars, clubs and apps which can feel intimidating and unwelcoming; Kiki Clubhouse is a community. It incorporates both in-person events and a private online space – both facilitated by hosts to help you feel welcome and connect with other members. It has been designed specifically to cater to the preferences and lifestyles of older LGBTQI+ people to provide a place to socialise, connect and have fun without the need for substances.
A. Yes KiKi is open to all ages, however it has been created to cater to older (35/40+) people who are transitioning out of the club and party scene (or who were never in that scene) and who are looking for a place to connect, socialise and make new friends without the comedown. We appreciate that younger people may also prefer this type of environment and encourage you to join.
A. No, we welcome all LGBTQI+ individuals and their friends who resonate with our purpose and values and are looking for meaningful connections in a space where they can be themselves.
A. We plan to host a monthly in-person Saturday Afternoon Social (or KiKi) as well as weekly virtual coffee catchups through our private community app. We also intend to organise other more intimate activities throughout the year, including brunches, outdoor activities, theatre and cultural visits, dinners, day trips and more (maybe even holidays eventually). Most importantly, our events will be intentionally designed to help you connect and get to know other members and facilitate stimulating conversations and meaningful friendships.
A. Yes! We really encourage you to organise activities and invite other members. We want to create the space for you as members to take the lead, contribute and co-create the community you’d like to be part of.
A. We’re still finalising the membership fees, our priority is to make it accessible while making sure we’re sustainable as an organisation.
A. Our intention is for Jan or Feb 2025 with the possibility of opening earlier to a small number of beta members to help test out the app and give feedback.
A. We want to make sure we’re creating a safe space with good vibes so there will be a short application questionnaire to ensure people joining are aligned in with our values.
A. A home for social gatherings and fun conversations with friends.
A. Absolutely. We prioritise your privacy and security. There are no ads, no selling of data, and a respectful environment where you can feel safe.
